Do you find that every time you and your husband go on a diet or weight loss program together, he loses weight faster? 1. Muscles & Metabolism

Muscle burns more calories than fat and men tend to have more muscle than women. Because of this, men tend to have higher metabolisms. Men usually prefer strength exercises that build muscle while women tend to prefer aerobic exercise.

Tip: Women can add more strength training to their workouts to see better results.

2. Exercise & Appetite

Men and women respond differently to exercise. The hormone ghrelin which stimulates appetite tends to spike in women after exercise. In men, it often goes down after a workout.

Tip: Women who get hungry after exercise should plan to have a low-sugar, high-protein meal or snack available. For meals, have a large serving of vegetables and a small serving of protein and carbohydrate foods.

The one place where women have it easier than men are in support structures. While women tend to talk about their weight loss goals with friends, men are more likely to go it alone. Having a support network can increase your chance of losing weight and getting healthy.
