As you are planning your workout routine for weight loss in Phoenix, a number of exercise options likely come to mind. There are group fitness courses such as spinning or Zumba, you can go and lift some weights at the gym, or strap on your sneakers and go for a long jog. While all of these are great fitness options, it is always a good idea to stay close to the basics and incorporate essential exercises that you can do from home, in addition to your new advanced fitness techniques.
Here are a few essential exercises that everyone should know how to do!
- The Push-up. The dreaded activity of high-school gym class has made a return, but for good reason. The push-up is a great upper body workout. If you cannot balance yourself on your toes then use your knee’s until you build up your arm strength. Lower yourself until your arms are at a 90-degree angle and then push up, straightening but not locking your arms under the weight of your body.
- Lunges. This is a great form of activity whether you are at home or at the gym. Stand with your legs shoulder width apart and take a large step with your left foot, bending your knee until it reaches a 90-degree angle, then stand up and repeat on the other side. Lunges are a great workout for your glutes, hamstrings and quads. Grab some hand weights as you do this exercise to add intensity to your workout.
