Getting Pumped about Exercise

Exercise is one of the most debated elements of any weight loss program. The reason for the debate is actually pretty simple: exercise isn’t easy. We are naturally drawn towards things that make our lives easier, and so when it comes to working out, we want to take the option that requires the least amount of effort. The problem is that if there isn’t effort, there won’t be results.

We’ve all seen personal trainers who jump around the gym with smiles on their faces. There are some people who just absolutely love working out, and if you haven’t had that experience before, then it can be kind of difficult to understand. That doesn’t mean that loving exercise is out of the question for you. It just means that you haven’t found the type of exercise that really gets you going.

Finding Exercise that you Love

Loving exercise doesn’t happen overnight. When you are just starting out, exercise is difficult—and this makes it difficult to love, in turn. As you get more accustomed to working out and your body starts to get in shape, you might find more enjoyment out of it. Many people turn to exercise as a way to cope with stress or relieve tension. You just need to find your niche.

The first step is to stay positive about it. Going from complete inactivity to exercising on a regular basis is hard for even the healthiest of people, so don’t feel discouraged if you find yourself feeling less than motivated to hit the gym one day. Allow yourself the courtesy of making mistakes and having bad days. Just do your best to avoid negative mind traps. Thoughts like “this just isn’t for me,” “I’m not strong enough to do this,” or “why bother starting now” are never helpful. Push negativity aside and always give it your best shot.

It might help you learn to love exercise more if you try something new. Instead of running on a treadmill, head down to a local park and go jogging outside. Try going for a brisk walk through downtown Scottsdale or go for a hike along Pinnacle Peak. Getting outdoors is a great way to motivate yourself to keep going.

Exercise is a healthy habit, just like eating a nutritious diet or going to bed on time. Once you get used to it, exercise will become a regular part of your day. Work on pushing through at first and keep a positive attitude. In time, your workout might be what you look forward to most in your day.

I landed at Scottsdale Weight Loss 13 years ago and lost 50 pounds….regained 10 and then lost them again, plus another 20. It is a great program, and all the professionals are amazing and caring.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr Robert Ziltzer! He helped me reach my ideal weight and more importantly maintain it for over 2 years. He has also helped me keep my blood pressure exactly where my internist wanted it. Dr Ziltzer is not only exceptional in weight management but also a truly gifted internet’s. His knowledge, kindness, and dedication are remarkable. I am deeply grateful for his care and recommend him whole heartedly!

I really felt comfortable with Kristen at my initial appointment. Everyone at the center was caring and friendly, from Bianca, at the front desk, to Lily, who is the MA. Kristen listened to my frustrations and prior disappointments about what has not worked, and is confident that she can help me achieve my goals of weight loss. I am looking forward and excited to see the success I will attain.

I'd lost 20 pounds on my own and struggled to keep it off. I decided GLP-1 meds were the next step in losing more and keeping it off. I wanted a medical doctor supervised program and chose SWLC. I am so very glad I did! The team in Glendale is so supportive and kind; and when I feel discouraged, they pick me up with positive energy and input. They really do a great job with encouragement all the time. 6 weeks in I've lost 17 pounds, and am approaching weight loss with a very new perspective. Also knowing that when I reach my target goal, they'll be there through maintenance and beyond is encouraging as well. Good to not feel alone on this journey.
