FoodGauge makes reading food labels simple!

by

One simple number can get you on the path to weight loss.

FoodGauge is a revolutionary food rating system that helps you make healthier eating choices by analyzing the types of foods that you are putting into your body. FoodGauge makes understanding nutrition labels easy. It was just released for download on most Blackberry phones through App World. An iPhone version can be found in the App store.

Trying to figure out if a food is going to cause weight loss or weight gain by reading a nutrition label is confusing. FoodGauge makes it easy by implementing a simple five point rating system. Foods that score a four or a five are most likely to assist in weight loss. Food that scores a three should be eaten in moderation, while those with a score of two or one should be eaten sparingly, as they will likely lead to weight gain.

Using the FoodGauge

Getting started with FoodGauge is easy. All you need to do is find a nutrition label and enter the information into the app as it asks for it. Essential information like the grams of protein, carbohydrates, sugar and fat are recorded and interpreted for you. This makes it simple for you to know if the food you are about to consume is healthy or not. There is no debate and no confusion. In a matter of seconds you will have a clear idea

FoodGauge is a very straightforward application. Enter the nutrition label information into the calculator – fat, carbohydrates, fiber, protein in grams per serving for the serving sizes you plan to eat. Once you have entered all of the fields, press “calculate” and FoodGauge gives you the food’s numerical score at the bottom of the screen.

This single score tells you what you need to know in order to make better eating decisions. Foods that are high in protein and/or fiber will rank highly. This includes lean meats, chicken, fish, eggs, and nonfat cheeses, as well as vegetables and low sugar fruits. Many high protein, low-carb entrees will also be highly rated. Foods that are high in sugars (carbs) and/or fat will be poorly rated. This includes baked sweet products, candy, butters and oils and most cereals. Sticking to lean proteins, vegetables and fruits will assist in making proper choices.
