Microdermabrasion

Want to improve skin tone, texture and overall vitality of your skin? Microdermabrasion may be the treatment to help. Microdermabrasion is a proven and effective treatment for sun damage and wrinkles. It is useful in removing spots, wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring and the brown patches called melasma.

Why Try Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses an abrasive surface to sand away the top layers of skin and reveals the newer skin beneath. It is an appropriate treatment for most skin types and is useful for the common skin conditions that result from aging and sun exposure.

The procedure takes less than an hour and requires no anesthesia or numbing of the treated area.

What to expect after Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses a diamond tip handpiece on sensitive facial areas to gently remove dead cells and suction them up at the same time.

For the rest of the face, a crystal emitting handpiece is used that sprays fine crystals onto the skin and removes the surface layer of dead and damaged skin. The crystals and dead skin are suctioned away immediately through the handpiece.

Following the procedure, you can expect mild tenderness and some redness. These side effects generally resolve in a few hours. There is no downtime following the treatment, and you can return to your regular activity immediately. You will need to taken to avoid the sun as your skin will be more sensitive to it than usual. Your skin care specialist will provide you with appropriate skin products to ensure your skin stays hydrated during healing.

Results are visible immediately after the procedure. Having several microdermabrasion sessions followed by periodic maintenance is normal.
