Kerry: 73 lbs. Weight Loss
Over the last 11 years or so, I have packed on about 10 pounds each year. Last summer, it dawned on me that I was seriously overweight. I was not just a “little fat” anymore. I was completely out of control. I had secretly contemplated weight loss surgery, but knew that I wanted to lose weight without surgery. I knew a healthier approach in the long run would be better for me. I simply wasn’t sure how to get started or how to deal with needing to lose so much weight. My dad had an appointment with Dr. Primack and asked if I had any interest in joining the program with him. Together we could support each other and have a healthy competition. I was thrilled to have a partner in the weight loss journey. Little did I know that not only would my dad be my partner on the journey, but I would have the sincere and supportive help of Dr. Primack and the team at SWLC. Since last August I have lost 73 pounds and while I still have another 40 pounds or so to go, I know for the first time in many years, I have the tools to be successful for good. And my dad, he lost 40 pounds!
Dr. Primack has been my secret weapon. I cannot tell you how much it means to have a doctor who is supportive and encouraging and truly seems to understand the challenges those of us with significant weight to lose, face. I simply could not have done this on any other program. I believe 100 percent in the OPTIFAST program which has allowed me, with my career in the restaurant industry, to have the flexibility I need.
I have loved learning more about the impact of sleep, stress and all the other factors I never really considered when trying to lose weight. Even at my heaviest I was on a pretty regular exercise routine. I would always joke that it sure didn’t look like I went to the gym 4-5 days week, but I did. There were so many other factors influencing my body, and of course the biggest one—what I was putting in my mouth. With 73 pounds gone, I feel pretty darn good and can’t wait to say goodbye to another 40 pounds in the coming months.
If you have any hesitation about joining the program, give yourself the best gift and get started. I promise, it’s easier than you can imagine and you’ll have all the support and encouragement you’ll need when you hit the rough spots. It’s the best journey you’ll ever take!
