While at the University of Texas, Dr. Duncan was a member of the Obesity Health Consortium, and she developed a multidisciplinary interest group for students in Obesity Health. She is involved in ongoing obesity research at the University of Texas as well as a national project, the Obesity Medicine Education Collaborative, created to develop and improve medical education in obesity.
